THE BATTERY
Your EV's Heart
JUST PLUG IT IN
Like your smartphone, your EV needs to be charged with electricity. And like your smartphone, recharging is as easy as plugging in.
How long will it take to recharge?
The time it takes to recharge an EV depends on several factors. These include: the charging system used, battery capacity, maximum vehicle charge rate, and environmental factors.
Charging system
Charging systems are generally divided into two types: Level 3 and Level 2. Depending on the system you use and the size of the battery in your EV, charging times will vary.
Battery capacity
A battery's capacity depends on its size. The all-new 2026 Nissan LEAF is available with a 75 kWh battery.
Environmental factors
Electric cars can operate even in challenging weather conditions, whether hot or cold. Like any car however, climate extremes will adversely affect how an EV performs. A car’s mechanical systems – whether gas powered or electric can only be pushed so far. The same is true for an EV’s battery pack whose capacity can be adversely affected by excessive heat or cold.
How long will it take to recharge my 2026 Nissan LEAF?
Charge time varies depending on battery size, charger type, and other factors. On the 2026 LEAF a driver-side J1772 port is handy for routine charging at home or work, while the passenger-side NACS port gives you easy access for fast top-ups on the go.
